Villa Zafferano, perfect for a self catering holiday, can be found in the hamlet of Vergelle, set amongst the beautiful and peaceful countryside known as the Crete Senesi, south of Siena, in Tuscany. It is close to the hilltop town of Montalcino with its world famous Brunello vineyards.

The villa is part of Vergelle’s old school building, and was fully renovated in 2008. The property is a large 4 bed-roomed house, over 2 floors and provides excellent accommodation for up to 8 people - and a lovely home for us, when we have time to visit!

It is a beautiful, bright and spacious villa and has been created in typical Tuscan style with traditional materials, including hand made terracotta floors, travertino stairs and kitchen surfaces and marble bathrooms. The villa has heating and air conditioning as needed. The outdoor space includes a private courtyard, ideal for al fresco dining, and a terrace for soaking up the sun or enjoying a barbecue.

Near the villa is a large swimming pool, with views overlooking the Tuscan countryside. The pool is shared with a small number of other apartments and has a dedicated changing area. In the opposite direction, just 60 metres from the house, is a lovely trattoria, where they sell local produce including their own famous pecorino cheese made on the premises. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner, or grab a morning coffee and pastry while taking in the spectacular views of the surrounding hills.
